MAP 008 · Weber County · Sales tax
Starting Oct. 1, 2026, sales tax goes up 0.20% everywhere in Weber County. That is 20 cents on every $100 of taxable purchases. The County Commission approved it unanimously; there was no ballot question and no mailed notice. Utah sales tax is built in layers. Everyone pays the state's 4.85%. Counties add local layers on top, and some cities and towns add one more of their own.
The new 0.20% is a county layer, so it is added in every part of Weber County. Riverdale and Huntsville already had an extra local layer of their own before this tax: 0.20% in Riverdale and 1.00% in Huntsville, according to the Utah State Tax Commission's rate charts. So they start higher and end higher. Everyone's increase is the same 0.20%.
Sales tax is charged where you shop, not where you live. Visitors and shoppers from other places pay it too, which the county named as an advantage.
Of the $13.1 million a year, $3.27 million goes to the cities for transportation, $3.27 million to the county for transportation or public safety, and $6.54 million to the county for any purpose through Sept. 30, 2029. After that, half goes to transportation and half to FrontRunner projects in Weber County.
Weber County's New Sales Tax: A Public Vote, but No Vote by the Public (Transparency) has the full record and a calculator for your own spending. S.B. 242 (Bill Tracker) is the 2026 bill that set this tax's rules. MAP 002 shows this year's property tax increases.
West Haven starts a second new tax the same day: a 6% city tax on electricity and natural gas. Read the West Haven case file (Transparency), or click West Haven on the map.
