What people in Weber County and across Utah want their neighbors to know about how public decisions get made, who pays for them and who benefits. The words are the writers’. The facts are checked against public records.
IN PLAIN WORDSLetters are short (up to 400 words). Essays are longer (up to 1,500). Both are opinion. Pieces marked From the publisher are Shauna’s own personal essays, kept here so they stay separate from the Hive’s neutral, records-only reporting. Anything stated as a fact has been checked against a public record and linked, or it was taken out before publication. Each piece lists what was checked. Letters marked From a candidate are published in full as the candidate’s own words; statements about their own record are marked checked or not yet checked.
Opinions are left alone. Facts are checked against public records and linked. Claims about a named person or group that can’t be confirmed are sent back or removed, never published with a “couldn’t find it” label.
